How Nurturing Hearts Foundation Began
Nurturing Hearts Foundation was born from a simple but powerful conviction: that every family deserves dignity, stability, and hope — regardless of their circumstances. Our founder witnessed firsthand the gaps in community support that left hardworking Virginia families struggling to meet basic needs, and knew that something had to change.
What began as a grassroots effort to connect neighbors with food, clothing, and essential resources has grown into a structured nonprofit committed to building lasting systems of support. From our earliest days organizing donation drives to developing programs that address food insecurity, educational barriers, and emergency assistance, every step has been guided by the belief that community care is the foundation of a thriving society.
Today, Nurturing Hearts Foundation is actively building the infrastructure to serve Hampton Roads families across eight program areas. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and every dollar, every donated item, and every volunteer hour goes directly toward our mission of nurturing hearts and transforming lives.
To strengthen children and families in need by providing essential resources, educational opportunities, emergency support, mentoring, and community connections that promote stability, dignity, self-sufficiency, and long-term success.
